COERR Mae Sarieng Organized Dialogue with Youth Leaders on Using Social Media Wisely

   COERR Mae Sarieng organized Dialogue with youth leaders to promote their using social media and internet in a creative way. This activity invited children and youth to brainstorm about behavior of community members in using smart phone and internet.

   The activity began with a survey about children and youth participants’ access to websites and social media. It was found out that 80 percent of participants had access to online internet and websites, which they used for communication and connection, entertainment and education purposes.

   Then participants brainstormed about social media addiction that had an impact on lifestyle and health of users who are community members particularly inappropriate messages and pictures posting and sharing, etc.

   The third and last topic was about how the problems should be solved or prevented: by using online application and social media in a proper way; spending limited time on online internet; having adults’ guidance in online application and social media, etc.

   This activity was organized on April 8, 2021 at Ban Mae La Oon Temporary Shelter in which there were 45 participants, and on April 9, 2021 at Ban Mae La Ma Luang Temporary Shelter, in Mae Hong Son Province’s Sob Moei District, in which there were 44 participants, making a total of 89 participants.

   The brainstorming sessions were made among these young participants of which 52 were 15 years old and above, and 37 were under 15 years old.
